Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium Statement

Pupil Premium is funding provided to schools which is additional to main school funding and is aimed at children from disadvantaged backgrounds. It is allocated according to the number of pupils on-roll who are eligible for free school meals (FSM), a smaller amount allocated according to the number of children of service families, and an allocation for each pupil who has been ‘Looked After’ (in care) for 6 months or more. In 2012, funding was extended to include pupils who have been eligible for free school meals within the past 6 years (Ever 6).

Research clearly shows established links between deprivation and educational underachievement. Pupil Premium enables schools to support these children in overcoming any barriers they may have in successfully engaging with their education. It helps to support disadvantaged children to reach their full potential by accelerating their progress and providing them with experiences which may not normally be available to them. It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility.

Please see below for information regarding how Pupil Premium was spent in the last financial year, the impact of this funding, and the plans for future spending.

We monitor the effectiveness of this spending carefully and regularly report to the Board of Trustees to measure the effect of Pupil Premium.
